Monkey escapes

Apr. 30, 2009 No Comments Posted under: Uncategorized

We casually observe the monkey in it’s cage…

We watch as the monkey observes her surroundings

Feeds itself

Suddenly the monkey noticed she’s caged.

And plans her escape

But is foiled again!

Let me out of here!!!

My big girl

When I picked up my girl from daycare today, they had put her in ponytails.  I didn’t recognize her at first because she looked so grown up!

(I think she stole this pose from Bug!)

Local Kids Consignment Shops

I came across this website that list most of the consignment/resale stores in the Portland/Vancouver area and decided I better share it.

There is a page that has some of the consignment events locally.

It has lots of links to stores and the consignments eventsI happened across this website on Craigslist - my other favorite site.   I hope it’s of some help.

Small successes

Bug has managed to tell me multiple times in the last several days that she had to go potty and has actually pooped or pottied in her little potty chair.   Who knew potty time could be so stinkin’ exciting!

Consignment sales woes

First off, Littlest is doing much better.  She is breathing better and has that spunk back in her eye and actions.  She is being so silly.  The first thing she did when got home from the hospital is climb on her favorite spot under the computer desk.  She was so happy!

Saturday after everybody was home, settled and relatively happy, Mama took a little time to herself.  I picked up Littlest’s medications at the pharmacy then headed over to the consignment sale at the Expo Center that I had been wanting to go to for the past two weeks.  What a bust!  Most of the good deals obviously had been snapped up early in the sale.  There was a lot of stuff left, but….   I was amazed at the stuff that was dirty.  A simple wash would have made a lot of things more saleable and worth the price.  Then there were the overpriced items.   Each consigner set their own prices and in some instances, ridiculously high.  For example, shoes.   Most of the left over shoes had been priced close to what you could buy the same thing at retail.  I found a couple of good deals though..  I had a pretty small budget, so couldn’t splurge on the one or two items that were overpriced, but gorgeous.   I guess I’ll stick to Goodwill Outlet, Value Village, and the couple of consignment shops I frequent.

The many hats of mama

During this last hospital admission for Littlest, I’ve come to realize something -  Being a mama doesn’t just mean keeping the girls fed, clean, dressed and loved, it’s a whole lot more than that.  Duh!  I finally broke it down a bit more in my own mind.

If you look at it through a hospital visit, it’s like this:

DOCTOR:   You know your child, you know what’s wrong.  Sometimes you don’t have rights to prescribe the necessary medications.  This last visit, I knew Littlest had an ear infection by the color of the drainage - it was a gimme.   I also knew something was wrong with her lungs by the sound of her cough and wheezing.  I knew she had an infection by the tiny red spots on a section of her face, genital region and a few on her back

NURSE:  You give her meds, listen to her lungs, assess her well being and report it back to the doctor, also administer medications and take care of some of the basic needs.

CNA:  You take her temperature, watch her respirations, change the bedding, bring in the food, and make sure all the basic needs are met.

RESPIRATORY THERAPIST:  Administer breathing treatments and do percussion.

PHARMACIST:  Dispense the medications.

NUTRITIONIST/DIETICIAN:  Make sure her diet is adequate and nutritious along with preparing it.

HOUSEKEEPER/LAUNDRY:   Pretty self explanatory - constant cleaning, making beds, doing laundry.

Then at home you become the occupational therapist, speech therapist, physical therapist and whatever other therapy she needs.   Throw in some security measures and you have the beginnings of a mama’s duties.

I wish I had a fraction of the pay all of the above people have put together, but I have something even better - two wonderful, beautiful, smart little girls who are full of character.  That’s priceless.

Home again

Littlest is finally home again.   Two nights in the hospital.  She was having a hard time breathing.  They attribute her problems to a viral pneumonia, asthma, and of course an ear infection.   She did really well at home last night, so hopefully we can stay healthy for a while.   I am bone tired and back to work.  I think we all need a vacation.

At the hospital again

Just a quick update.   Littlest is in the hospital again. This time with a viral pneumonia in the lower lobes of both lungs and also a left ear infection.   She’s having a hard time breathing and they are officially saying she has asthma  now.   She had to stay overnight and probably will another night, but I’m really hoping that she comes home later tonight!

Birthday

So I managed to get some pictures loaded.  This is the birthday cake.   I found the cake pan at Target.   Bug loved the sprinkles and Littlest loved the frosting.

Excited for the biggest cupcake ever!

Not quite so sure…

Really not sure.   She didn’t eat any after all.

Anticipation of her first piece.

And that’s all the pictures it would let me load!

To be continued!
