So enough of the glum, gloom and doomness.
Friday the girls and I went to one of my favorite places - Target. As always, it’s a crap shoot when you take Bug shopping with you. This time, we only had one tiny battle, but it quickly ended. Littlest was asleep for part of the time, so Bug had one-on-one play time with mommy. I always hit the dollar section and this time there were some pretty good Easter items. One was a cute sunflower headband - it had yellow petals with glitter and some green leaves. I put it on Bug’s head and adorable doesn’t even come close to describing what she looked like. She actually left it there for some time. We went all through the store looking for bargains and getting the things on our list. I think we were probably there for about an hour. Littlest woke up at some point and Bug turned her attention on making Littlest laugh. Such a beautiful sound. Bug was saying “Hi” to a lot of people and when the check out lady helped us, Bug was right there with her now trademark “Thank you” and “Bye.” She is very polite, except of course when she is bossing you around. I think we found a soft baby doll that Bug attached to. She has slept with it for the past several nights. I’m thinking I should get another one just in case. We’ll see. This baby doll has soft fabric brown hair and two ponytails that Bug likes to finger. We’ll see.
Yesterday when I was in the bathroom Bug wanted to sit on her potty. I asked her if she wanted her pants down and she nodded yes. I pulled down her pants and started to take off her diaper, which wasn’t okay. So we just went with the pants down. She sat on her potty forever!!! I kept telling her that time was up, but she didn’t want to get up. I would hand her toilet paper and she would “wipe” herself - which was hilarious and put the paper in the potty, but would not let me pull her pants back up. I think we spent 20 or 25 minutes in there. I ran out to get the camera and took pictures and video, she is such a ham. This is huge progress for us at home. I know they work on it at daycare as well, but Bug hasn’t really been interested in it at home. I’m not worried or in a hurry, it will happen. We will have diapers in our house for a while longer anyhow.
As for Littlest, that girl is silly. She likes to tease. Her trademark is shaking her head and bouncing at the same time. I can’t do that, I get dizzy and can’t do both at the same time. Not Littlest, she’s excellent at it. She also is getting really good at standing just using one hand to barely hold onto something. I keep thinking she will start taking steps at any time now, but she hasn’t. She will cruise along the couch or bathtub, but not much. That girl loves to eat! She eats with gusto and will eat just about anything. I’m thinking she will catch up with Bug’s size pretty quickly and it will look like we have twins. Littlest can now say Dada, Dog, Baby, bye-bye and finally Mama!!!! She said Dog before she said Mama - boo! She waves bye-bye too. She’s losing that baby-ness about her and is working towards toddlerhood. I’m happy and sad all at the same time…I love my babies when they are babies, but I love the big girls too. I’m sure every parent goes through this, but it’s just amazing to see Bug as a little girl, not a little baby. Her long legs and speaking more and more words and even simple sentences. It’s kinda hard to let go. It’s almost time to let go of some of the little baby stuff for good - now that’s hard!
sniff….
