I saw my surgeon yesterday and he’s pretty happy with how things are progressing. He put in four screws along with the bone graft. I will be off work a couple more days then it’s full time. You will be seeing me zip up and down the halls on my knee scooter (which I might add needs nubby tires for snow traction). They took out my stitches, put on Steri-Strips, and then put me in a nice purple cast. I’ve never had a real cast before, so it’s been an adjustment. It’s driving me crazy where my foot normally bends. The incision sites itch like crazy, so that doesn’t help. The place in my hip where they took donor bone still hurts, so real chair sitting is still uncomfortable (hence the few more days off and a few extra pain meds). Daddy took pictures of everything - cast removal, stitch removal, my wounds. I’ll post a few, but leave it up to you to look at them. They will be at the very end of this post. I won’t post the more graphic of them - yuck. I feel much better since the flu and I’m gaining energy, so life is getting better.
The girls went to daycare yesterday for a few hours while we were at the doctor’s and both came home a bit more happier. After talking with Bug’s teacher, we may cancel the MRI. We are having a really hard time with wanting to put her through an elective procedure that requires sedation when all the other tests are normal. Then there’s the emotional component, Friday is the day that we lost our Sweet Baby Boy a year ago. I’m not sure how to explain it, but hopefully you know what I mean. A lot of emotions going on here.
So I am off to wrap presents and to decorate some. Everyone have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Day. We appreciate all of our friends and family who’ve been with us through these last few years and are wishing you the most wonderful of holidays!
Okay, now for the pictures….look at your own risk!
