Thanks God
Thank you God for the daycare thing…
Obviously I can’t, you can, and you helped!
Joy and Sorrow in the Midst of Motherhood
Thank you God for the daycare thing…

But your name isn’t “Kim” you say. For a minute or two, four days a week, I become Kim. I’m not quite sure how it happened and now I’m not sure how to fix it, so I’m Kim for an instant.
I’ve been working at the local hospital for well over 16 years now and have seen many of the same people for years and years. We may not know each other names, but we are familiar to each other, so a wave and a good morning are the norm. Then I go to the cafeteria. Every day I work, I probably make 2-4 trips a day down to the cafeteria for tea, water or food. One cook has worked here forever and had called me by the correct name for years. All of a sudden I became Kim. At first I didn’t think I heard him right, so I didn’t correct him. Then it was every day. I tried wearing my name tag with my name so he could clearly see it. That didn’t work. Now I don’t know what to do, so Kim I am.
I’ve decided since I’m Kim for an instant, I get to have a Kim life for an instant. What’s a Kim life? Kim lives in a newer big house with lots of land and lawn for her three kids and two dogs. She has two girls, Bug and Littlest, and a boy, Sweet Baby Boy. Kim only has to work part time, so has plenty of time to spend with her kids and whatever hobbies she happens to have at the moment. Kim has time for exercise and likes to cook. She has beautiful clothes and shoes. She gets manicures and pedicures regularly. She also has a housekeeper come in once a week to do the deep cleaning.
Kim can remember things, like remembering to brush her teeth in the morning and the name of the person she was just introduced to. Her family is happy and healthy with few worries. Their home is on sewer and fairly new, so home repairs are few and far between. Daddy takes Kim and the kids on wonderful vacations around the world the kids get to experience a wide variety of cultures and art. Daddy takes Kim to see Dave Matthews anywhere he happens to have a concert. Kim also can talk to anybody and can address issues without a huge drama.
Kim also didn’t just single handedly raise the cost of her co-worker’s health insurance in the past eight months. Remember, everybody is happy and healthy. Oh Kim has worries, but her life is pretty comfortable.
Oh for that instant, being Kim is pretty sweet. Being me the rest of the time can be pretty sweet too. I wouldn’t give up my girls for anything and I can’t imagine life without Daddy. Some of the other stuff, yeah…it could go. At some point God is going to say, “Kim…er….***, why don’t you take it easy now, I’ll fix everything.”
Ha!
