I never thought I would see this

Jun. 27, 2008 No Comments Posted under: Uncategorized

I have been craving my venti non-fat Chai from Starbucks since yesterday.  I moaned and groaned about wanting my tea all day yesterday and today.  So I stopped at our local Starbucks on my way home to visit my family and low and behold, manning the drive thru window was someone who wasn’t under the age of 23.  In fact, this man hadn’t seen 23 in probably about 45 years.   I never thought I would EVER see anyone other than a very young person working there.  He must have been new because he was asking a lot of questions and his apron wasn’t pristine.   It’s funny how you don’t realize you have certain expectations about places until it’s different.

Now I’m craving a huge Denver omelet from Christine’s, have been since about 4 am this morning.   Not sure how I’ll manage to take care of that craving (and no I’m not pregnant - it’s from not eating but about once a day with all the stuff with Littlest).

Happy Six Month Birthday Littlest

Jun. 27, 2008 No Comments Posted under: Uncategorized

Six months ago today Littlest and Sweet Baby Boy were born.   Apparently Littlest wanted to celebrate her birthday in the place where she came in the world!  She is still in the hospital, but I think she is doing better.   She actually was smiling and talking today.   This afternoon and evening she had horrible coughing fits - it was awful.  They still have her on a bit of oxygen, but managed to be off of it for a few hours during the day.  I suspect she will be there until Saturday.

Littlest came into the world at 1:51 pm six months ago today and I came into the world at 11:45ish p.m. 43 years ago today.

Yup, today was my birthday.  It was about as good of a day as Mother’s Day was.  Because I’m staying the night at the hospital with Littlest, Daddy got me a GIANT chocolate cake and a huge hanging fuscia plant for my birthday and gave it to me yesterday.  Nana made a huge dinner for me that I finally got to taste about 10:30 tonight (yummy).

Quick Hospital Update

Littlest is still in the hospital and will be for at least another night.  She just isn’t keeping her oxygen saturation levels up where they want them.  She has so much mucous in her nose and back of her throat that she has horrible coughing fits.   She is eating better today and I think the breathing treatments are helping.  Her doctors and nurses are wonderful, so I don’t have to worry a bit about her.  It’s just hard to see her Royal Littlest in the hospital again.

Bug is Bug.  She is reigning terror over the dogs and is having a great time at daycare.  She comes twice a day to see Littlest and I at the hospital and the nurses dote on her.   Everybody knows Bug.

Daddy is having a hard time seeing Littlest being sick and in the hospital again.  Just watching her being suctioned is too much for him.   He has been a wonderful daddy to Bug, but she keeps him busy and he doesn’t have much time for anything else.

Me…I’m worn out and burnt out.  The antibiotics for my sinus infection don’t seem to be clearing it up.  I still can’t hear much out of my left ear.  I’ve been sleeping at the hospital at night to be near Littlest, even though the nurses take care of her.  I’m trying to work as many hours a day as I can, but it’s hard and they are usually weird hours.  I don’t see much of my family.   I can’t even think straight anymore.   When I eat, it’s at weird times and not so good stuff.   At best, I’m struggling to keep a grip on things.  But that’s just between you and me, I work hard to try to look like I have it all together.  (Even though my spelling and grammar suck!)

Anyhow, we will make it through.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Littlest is in the Hospital Again!

Jun. 24, 2008 No Comments Posted under: Uncategorized

Just a quick update.   The doctor admitted Littlest to the hospital again yesterday.  She’s okay and it’s mostly a precaution because she was such a preemie.  She has like a viral illness, possibly a cold.   Most kids would be sent home to work it out, but because of her past history and that she is working hard to breathe, the doctor decided to admit her.   She’s doing okay, but they put her on oxygen and an IV so she can get her strength up and also a lot of nasal suctioning because she’s pretty snarffy.  Like I told Daddy, Littlest gets extra special treatment because she was born at almost 26 weeks and so what is normal for other kids, she gets extra super special precautions taken.   Because of that, Bug gets extra super special love too.   No child left behind!

I will post more later.

Yes, I know my spelling and grammar is atrocious.  I can’t seem to help it.

Milestones

I did it.  Probably for the third time in my entire life, I did it.  I parallel parked perfectly the first try!  The FIRST try!  Holy Cow, I was so proud of myself that I had take a picture of it.

It was probably the first time with our big vehicle that I’ve ever done that.

The girls, Grandma, and I went down to the local Saturday Market and a Tibetan bazaar was also going on.   Saturday Market is in a park where only the bums and homeless used to hang out, in fact, very few if anyone else used it.   It’s been completely  redone and is a wonderful place.  After my perfect parallel park, I noticed this (see picture below) walking on the way to the park  and it reminded me of how it used to be.  There also used to be a beer company just a few blocks from this park as well, but they tore that thing down a bazillion years ago.

After I dropped Grandma and the girls off at home, I headed over to Costco (cue the angelic music)  Nirvana!  (nirvana - any place of complete bliss and delight and peace)  I guess I haven’t been there in a while, everything has been changed around.  There is just something about that place that makes want to spend hours just looking around.  It’s especially good if they have the samples out.  Shoot grab a book, a snack, and then hang out in that middle section where they have the furniture or lawn chairs.  Kick back and relax.   Who could ask for more.  Of course, I spent way too much money, but unfortunately it was all stuff we needed like diapers, laundry soap and such.

Can’t you just the halo-like glow?

Finally, here’s a picture of Bug with Grandma.  Bug is showing off her new summery outfit with her cute sparkly pink jellies.

Have you ever noticed that when your head is stuffy, your nose is stuffy, and your ears are stuffy…that you can’t read very well, you obviously can’t hear worth beans, and next thing you know people are saying the strangest things and weird words pop up on the page.  Holy cow, I’m constantly having to interpret things.  It’s like people are doing it on purpose to mess with me,  because you know it’s them and not me.  I also noticed that the keyboard purposely skips or adds letters as I’m typing.   It’s all a conspiracy.   I know it is!  My eye is twitching now…

Talk about conspiracy, I’m trying to get in to see the doctor, but I can’t get into my own doctor until next week, so I want to go to urgent care, but not the one across town.  I want to go to the clinic’s urgent care.  Thing is, even though the clinic is in network for all the doctors, to go to the same day clinic it’s out of network - WTF!?!  So I would have to pay more to be seen there.  I just want an antibiotic so that the stupid conspiracy will end.

Littlest

It seems like almost overnight Littlest has decided to break out of her “I’m just a baby, so I’m going to lay around” life. She is starting to be awake more, looking around, smiling her cute little imp smile, and cooing! She has the cutest tiny voice. She has always been a frowner when she doesn’t like something, but now you can see the smile in her eyes before it spreads to her face. She also is starting to look more to her left side than before. She even has batted around some of the little toys we’ve hung for her. I think at this rate she will be walking before Bug does!

Speaking of Bug, she has been taking a few steps here and there. She will stand up on her own and take a step or two, but only if she isn’t thinking about it. You can almost see her mind go “wait a minute, I don’t walk” and then she plops down. The wonderful ladies at daycare said that Bug is starting to stand her ground better and if one of the kids gets in her face, she tells them what for. Go Bug! I saw her in action yesterday. Some kid wanted her chair and she “acked” them and pushed back and the teachers were “you tell them Bug, stand your ground!”

I swear pictures are coming soon.

Really…I’m not antisocial

This last week has been busy and I haven’t had enough time to post.  Dear Daddy decided we needed to use a different photo editing program and I can’t seem to just work it without really learning it and I haven’t taken time to figure it out, so no pictures yet.

A lot of things have been happening.  We went to a wedding reception in the gorge (Beautiful!) Saturday and once again, I’m really not antisocial, just one tired momma who can’t think straight.  We’ve had all kinda of projects going on in the house and with the septic system, I have to go back to work full time, and Bug is finally sleeping in her own room.

So that’s just a hint of what should be coming soon to a blog near you!

Stay tuned….
